new to the MB experience
hello all
First of all i must admit, that at first, I was not a Merc fan because, well...I thought it was overpriced and some of the features and comfort you can get in other cars for less the price, but that idea has been changed about 2 years ago when I've been driven around in a 2009 C class, and what can I say...it was a totally different experience!
The ride quality was excellent, and it was quite roomy for me at the back. I felt well cocooned inside, even when I went on gravel, i didn't feel the rocks. The ride was controlled and stable! In short, it really surprised me, and if there's one car I would like to buy, a C class would have to be it! Sure it's great to look good in it, but what will win me is the quality and I don't mind investing on something that will last and pay for itself over and over again!
What I'm here for is to find out from you experts and those who owned a C class or 2 or 3 lol, if this is a good idea to have this as a 1st time car, and which models from 2008-2011 has great fuel economy and maintenance costs, something like 20 mpg.

Its amusing to see "20mpg" and "great fuel economy" in the same sentence. Only millionairs and footbal stars can afford to drive cars that do 20mpg in the UK. Diesel in the UK is $8.51 a US gallon and regular gas is not far behind. $150+ to fill the tank just to get to work for the week is not funny. If your idea of great fuel economy is 20mpg then the world is your oyster, buy the C class, its a fine car. Ignoring the economy issue, my Diesel C220 estate (2006) drives fine and has had no real problems. Its a shame that the heater is not particularly good in winter (inadequate), and the air conditioning is high summer is totally inadequate (despite being re gassed and checked). It needs special oil (at $65 a US gallon) and special tyres. On reflection it was not a brilliant purchase really, but valuable lessons have been learned :- never buy another automatic, never buy another rear wheel drive vehicle (useless in the snow), never buy a car with wide profile tyres (cost a bomb to replace), never buy another merc (poor fuel economy). Apart from that its fine.
