Hello. I was just given a 1995 E420. I don't know much about it, or Mercedes' in general. I usually drive a '99 Chevy Tahoe with 130,000 miles and bang bars all ober it, so the new (to me) car will compliment it nicely. No more borrowing my wife's Volvo when I'm going somewhere respectable!

The E420 seems to have a good bit of power, and no cup holder. I guess I have a lot to learn...

 

Yeah the older Mercedes cars did not have cup holders because in Germany its illegal to eat and drive. The idea of multi-tasking while driving is taboo (sp?)

Welcome to the forum. Did u get the Tahoe new and what problems have u have with it? Been thinking about a full size SUV.

 

I got the Tahoe new. No major problems, and I beat it like a rented mule. I wear out tires (I use over size, but stock wheels) and brakes pretty quick, but that's my fault. I have replaced the alternator, and that is a known weak link in the chain on these. I also have relaced a few of the electric locks. That's really about it.

 

Oh thats not bad at all 5.3 i assume? No trans problems i now that GM autos in the trucks anyway have known to be problematic maybe they fixed the problem when they changed the style in 99?

BTW ur E420 is a W124 some say the best mercedes platform ever built I'd go with top 3 cause i have a had a couple W126 my 560 sel and my 300sdl which i just sold. So you have gotten a very good car. Goodluck with it!
