Hi all, been doing alot of research concerning my s430 recently and realized my 02 s430 has had alot of the same issues that are being complained about here. I wanted to help as best I could and also receive some advice. My mechanical issues have slowed after about spending as much in repairs as I purchased the car for. However, I am completly sold on MB and would love for this to be the first of many. Every time I go to the dealership I am wowed by the craftsmenship and how MB stay ahead of majority of the other car companies. I was a hug BMW and still would drive one but MB has stolen my heart. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and see if anyone had ideas concerning exchanging my factory nav for touch a screen nav, dvd, with an ipod hook up. Ive put pics up so you check this work in progress out.

 

Is there an easy engine conversion for an 86 420 sel?

 

I'm a bit of a newbie myself. A year ago I was looking at a used 2003 long-body with 30-thousand miles on it which had been sitting for 3 years, and invested $500 to have it checked out nose-to-tail by MB. A month later, the transfer case blew out. $3500 to fix. MB whinged that it didn't have the technology to detect that. Maybe they should invent some.

And CV boots. Mine's needed two on the front. MB will quote you $5-600. A garage competent with German four wheel cars will do it for $250.

Also; the S430 rides like a rock. MB Canada tells me that's because it's set up "European-style," and I guess that's true if they say it is.

Any of this ring any bells with anyone?
