Just Bought a 1981 300D!
I took it for a test drive and everything seemed in good working order, beyond the fact that it is 29 years old. There was some rust around the wheel wells, but in the Midwest everything has rust it seems. The back windows went up reeeeaaaal slow when I rolled them down, but the fronts seemed okay. The heat worked, but the AC didn't blow very cool, and it was chilly here today. The car is mine, but what should I do next? According the the seller, the car belonged to his elderly father (the registration seemed to confirm this, and the guy seemed honest enough) and it has been sitting for the last few years but he recently put $900 into a tune-up. I really want to give this car a good home, but not sure what I should be looking out for, and what to do next. Can I use bio-diesel, and is this a good candidate for veggie conversion? Also, I plan on moving to CA within a year. Please keep in mind that I am in no way mechanically inclined...I go to JiffyLube for oil changes. Was I a complete fool to sell my 99 Toyota and purchase this beautiful car?
