I just joined and am very excited about being a part of the community here. I am a MB tech and have had years of experiance with the products from Benz as well as Porsche. I "retired" from the auto industry as I was presented with an oppertunity to continue a 200 year old family business. I miss my time in the shop as I have spent my life enthusiastically around German automobiles.I have had thousands of hours on Porsche and Benz autos and I can say confidently that Mercedes Benz is the finest engineered car in the world.
My reason for posting is to gain someowners opinions and experiance on the ownership of Benz products. At this point I do not own a Mercedes, howeverI am now in the market after years ofanticipation. In fact today I am going to look at a '01 ML430 with 53k miles. I have always wanted a V8 Mercedes as they are grand autos and the engines are jewels. No disparigment toward the 6 hole cars at all, just something I want. I also have to consider my wife and practicallity. The ML is a good product. I could however steer her towards a sedan with a little persuasion. We have a boat on the coast that we visit often and we also Live in the mountains so all wheel drive, towability, room for the family, and yes a nice V8are the criteria that I chose a ML upon. If anyone has any input or advice It would be greatly appreciated.
