Default First MB, First 240D, First Diesel - I'm so stoked!

Bought an '82 240D last week, ostensibly for my wife but I just can't stop tinkering with it. It is a beautiful piece of machinery and I am so enjoying it. You know what I really like?...being able to troubleshoot little things without a computer! Common sense, logic and community (this site) and you can resolve so many "problems". Glad to be here with you all! Here is a pic...

Default My 83 240D

Glad you are enjoying the MB diesel. I have rebuilt the engine in my 83. Oversized pistons, had the head worked, the whole nine yards. I also love this car. It was given to me by a friend who just got married and moved. This was in 05 and we were in the middle of working on it. I took it from him knowing what laid ahead. I just got it back in 09. Took that long for me to get the parts, machine work....

I just installed a new instrument cluster but my fuel gage still does not work. It was a project car and still is. I now have to find out how to replace a fuel sensor, which is about 200 bucks. My Haynes manual does not cover replacing a fuel sensor so I am going to post this problem here.

Other than that the car is just great. NOT to mention the 50 miles per gallon I get while I am on the highway.

I would not trade this car for a new one.

So enjoy
