Hi: Just picked up my "new to me" 2001 E430 4matic. This is my first Mercedes, and I hope that I have as much luck with it as I did with my 1994 Acura. My E430 has the (SOS) Tele Aid option, and I have a question that I'm hoping someone can help me with.

When I test drove the car, I noticed that when I turned it off I would get a diagnostic message of "1 malfunction". At the time, the dealer said that it was probably attributable to a burned out light and that he would fix it before I picked up the car. Well I went and picked it up today and he informed me that the message is actually attributable to the Tele Aid service not being activated, and that once activated the message would go away (seems strange). I'm wondering if this is true, and if so, if there is any way to eliminate the message without activating Tele Aid? Thanks.

 

It is true thatwhen the TeleAid subscription expires, a malfuntion notice will appear.
