c180 central locking

c180 central locking
hi,new to the forum and have just purchased my first Mercedes. Overall I'm very happy with it. My car is a c180 Elegance and it seems to have a very annoying habit of refusing to lock. The infrared seems to activate the immobiliser but the central locking does not work consistantly (works sometimes then looses the mood).
I've read a post about vacuum leaks but presuming this is the fault where do I start tracing a leak?
Any hints = big help!

RE: c180 central locking
Try changing the battery in the remote first and see what happens. I assume that is what you are referring to by infrared? I also assume you do not live in the United States. I own a C280 and live in New England, what is the difference between the C180 and the C280? This has been bugging me for a while. Thanks!

RE: c180 central locking
thanks for the reply, replaced the batteries already and the key fob / remote seems to activate the alarm/immobiliser. Thats what makes me think it's a central locking prob. Also the button on the dash that activates the central locking from inside the car dosen't work (sometimes) either. Don't think the c180 is available eveywhere, I'm in Ireland and suspect the 180 is only available in tax conscious countries!?
