Is buying an old mercedes a good idea?
Ok. Ive made an account quickly to locate some old mercedes gurus hopefully willing to answer a couple of questions about buying a mercedes.
Im living in new zealand at the moment, and want to get a project car to have as a hobby and to learn about cars with. As a student, money is limited. So, is getting a mercedes a good idea? I want to know how hard they are to work with, and what kind of components would i expect to come across? Im looking at old models to avoid electronically controlled engines, etc, making things simple.
But how much are parts if major things go wrong?
I found a car in paticular on trademe (the newzealand ebay), and wondered what you guys thought.
Heres the link(hopefully): http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=289636447
cheers.

Hey Kiwi, If I were you I'd get a Holden, The parts are cheaper & so are the Mechanics for fixing them. Even though I have a Merc & this is my 3rd at the time I was in business & I could afford to run them, but on a budget you're going to find it hard.
