Advice for future MB owner
I'm a new forum member seeking any and all opinions on my target MB for this years toy. 98% to the office and back, 5% son and I, baseball, swim, horse track, cruising, 5% family of 4 for ice cream and marina. I love horse power, untill it effects reliability. Are the AMG55 engines more problematic then the 430,s?
I've targeted used for obvious savings 2001<2003 clk55 or clk 430, convertible #1 choice but coupe reduces cost and may be more practical in Northern KY. Not completely out of the question but not to sporty the E series. Drove a E430 4matic and loved the ride but to sluggish for me. I need enough leg room for 6'2" frame with good shoulder room. I need room for 4 (back seat) for occasional family ice cream runs. Automatic for the lady that doesn't know what the third pedal is for. Sporty and hot for the 10yr old son who knows more cars from his need for speed PS2 than I do from driving for 30 plus years. Appreciate your honest opinion and do be honest. I've swayed my opinion in ownership so try to put yourself in my shoes and help me make this decision.
I've owned Audi Quattro, 3 series BMW's, one 911 porsche which I fell into last year and couldn't wait to sell that midget car with the jumbo price. Made a few bucks on it but was nervous every time I took it out, didn't ant to know the service manager.
Thanks in advanced for your help!

Maybe u should test drive a E500 sounds like that might be the best car for you especially if u get it with the sport package. A C32 AMG might also be worth looking into. I have never heard of any problems with AMG vs regular models the motors in the amgs are all completely hand assembled so seems to me that it would be the other way around if any problems do exist.
I will certainly look into the E500 option. The reason I think the AMG engine could be more problematical would be the fact that they put out more torgue and horse power, thus induce more stress in the process shortening life cycle. Hand built seems like a nice idea, unless the hands are attached to a fellow who had a bad night at the beer Stahle!
Four door sedan are more practical for the family life but don't turn the head like a sharp 2D coupe.
