Hi all...I am very very new to this Forum stuff and I probably hosed it up already. My name is Art, I am a southern Californian who just retired from the Police Department and now I want a new car. Been driving BMW's most of my adult life, but last week, against my better judgement, I accidentally test drove a S550 .... Now I want one. My problem is I read too much and have been a long standing member of Consumer Reports. If there is anything I ever got out of that magazine it is that MB reliability...for the most part, is in the dumper, and has been for decades. So, I desperately need to know if, in you guys opinion, I may be making a mistake and should go out and do the BMW M5 thing again.

Well if I had my chose between the two Mercedes and BMW I would have to go with Mercedes. I find that the Mercedes have cleaner lines and perform better. They both offer great drivetrains and both offer great extended warranties. But Mercedes carry better value when you decide to resell or trade in.
