First of all, good morning to you all!
I just hope that someone can help before I totally lose it!!
I don't think my auto box is very well?
For some reason it decides not to move anywhere after about 20 miles, until then it shifts as if there's nothing wrong with it? Just before that it seems as if it slips, you know high revs and no speed! And now its stuck in one gear. So I took a look at it and found a leak, well I changed the sump gasket, kickdown solenoid 'O' rings, the filter and the fluid. Everything seemed to be OK for awhile but then it started up again.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Has anyone got any ideas cos this is really getting me down at the moment. As for taking it to the dealers, well at the moment its a case of 'lack of money!' and here in the UK prices I've been quoted are £84.90p plus our VAT of 17.5% (Total £102.90p) that's roughly $190.83, per hour, now this price is just for them to check the oil level in the box!! (and of course they don't supply the dipsticks as a spare to purchase over here), there's extras added on top where needed like diagnostics checks and so on .
So any help and ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

kickdown solenoid? .........i don't think it got one.

it is losing oil...right? still got oil now? just use anything to insert and if it is about 3 inches from the tip, then it's okay. 1 inch, it's low.

pull out that transmission control unit and see if it is contaminated with OIL! look very well and feel.

This control unit you talk about it wouldn't happen to have a few wires coming out of it and its located at the front of the transmission would it?
If this is it then - kickdown solenoid? Ooops! my mistake. Anyway, I'll check it out and let you know.

what model?

722.6 transmission is electronic. depending on your model, the ETC control unit location is different.

 

My car is a C180 petrol model, the MB service book states that i definately have the 722.603 transmission on it.
Once again greatful for your help.
