240D and 300D turbo here
I want my step daughter to have a nice car when she can pay her own insurance, so I bought a 1982 Mercedes for her a project. If a person drives a car they should know how to work on it, especially if a garage sees a woman coming in. My step daughter is 14 and has the ability to fix something like a car ,as she can do it with. It is my ability to have her converge to vegetable oil after starting with deisel and upon ending back to deisel. This will make her experienced in diesels and know how to fix the problem. Kids need direction in school and who says only men can fix a diesel? Anybody that can help all help is appreciated.

welcome Deb
diesel is a bit difficult to understand because of many parameters involved compared to a gasoline engine.
however, with good maintenance, diesel will give you less headache.
with good experience and informations, even women can fix diesels. but i never thought you want to use cooking oil on it.
since she can't drive it yet, it's a good way to dismantle the engine and let her put it back together one bolt a day.
since there is less than 365 bolts on it, it won't take her a year to finish the engine.
