OK..Now hopefully someone will be able to hellp me. Firstly, I live in N. ireland, in this part of the world we have one...yes only one! dealership. The service they provide is appauling. I have been complaining for some time about my AirCon. They have told me that I have to pay for a ReCharge after 18 months! I do not believe them...Is this true. Furthermore, when I bought the car as a 2 month old demonstrator I realised after 2-3 months that the car had been in an accident and repaired by this Mercedes delaership. Front drivers wing and front grill were replaced. I obviously complained at the time and I was refunded some money, However, I have have ahd recurring problems with the air con and blower. The blower has been replaced twice and now surprise surprise the Aircin need recharged...I haven'y ordered my BMW 730d just yet I love mercedes..however, I despise their dealership. No competition is not a good development.
Asterix.

I'd say u have a small leak, probably in the compressor. Compare an air conditioning system to that of a refrigerator , both contain freon and are sealed units when working properly. Needs leak test done with colored dye under infra red light to pinpoint.
While maintenance is required on auto's about every 5 yrs to check pressures and freon levels every 18 mo is pre-mature.
I dont know what you are paying for recharging , but replacement of compressor is big dollars. U can have system probably recharged many time over for the cost of compressor.Judgement call needed on this one.

Sorry to hear of this. In Southern Califirnia, it seems dealerships are on every other corner. You are right about competition, or the lack of it.

When a dealership starts giving me some crap I call the manufacturer. That's like telling someone's mom they've been misbehaving. It works every time. Operating a dealership is a privilege, not a right. The manufacturer can pull the rug right out from under the dealer for misbehaving.

This is an easy business concept to understand, unless you're from Australia. Never mind-an inside joke.

i think the 2002 is using 134a freon, they are not stabil like r12. leaking use to be inside the car of the evaporator core .because when the factory use the refrigerant oil can make a acide tiny hole to have a small leak.....in aluminum .
134a freon is mix with 3 kindsb of freon ,they can just mix in liquid stage only.once in the system at hi pressure air ,they will be change in hi ,med, low pressure air stage . if you got leak.... the hight pressure freon go first, then so on ....
even a fill charge will change the mixing freon and you dont got cold like before, then you need to redo your ac every 18 months.....unless your system no leak......
