I've owned a couple of MB's in the past....both fine cars... One was a 1965 230SL, purchased new (wish I still had that one). The other was a 1981 280TE Wagon....grey market car....W123 bodied, gas wagon....best vehicle I ever owned.

Just purchased a 1987 300TD W124 Body Wagon with the 6 cyl 603 turbo diesel engine..... that the PO sold when he rearended a sport ute. It has the expected damage to the hood, grill, radiator, condensor and fans....no damage to bumper or fenders.....I should be able to fix it with a couple of thousand in parts. and hope to enjoy it for a long time afterwards

I'm a decent wrench....I've put several Subaru engines into VW Vanagons....and I worked on my W123 Wagon some....but this will be my first diesel....I know nothing about them and will probably need lots of advice .

Very interested in the whole biofuels thing...but will run on diesel for a while until I learn a LOT MORE.

Appreciate any tips and resources for parts, mechanics in the San Francisco Bay Area..
