Default 1995 c280 basic ?'s

Hi,

I am considering purchasing a 95 c280 with 145,000 mi. for $2800. The price is low, so of course I'll have to get the pre-purchase inspection to see about the wiring harness & MAF sensors, etc. But what I can't find on here is a general idea about maintenance costs of tune-ups and oil changes.

Any 94-99 c280 owners out there can tell me what they paid for their last tune-up? Just curious.

Default

the older c 280s are inline 6 cyl. so the plugs and wires are right on top easy to get to. just gotta take off the cover. parts for the car are still pricey at the dealer but its a decent car if its been maintained.

Default buying a c280 (I hope!)

Thank you for the response.
I'm a little nervous because I'm also looking at a 1996 c280 that the owner says has never had the wiring harness replaced. But the owner says it is in excellent mechanical condition. I'll get it checked of course, but is that normal for a 95/96 to have never required that repair? Several cars that I've looked at have had owners that said nothing has ever needed to be repaired: "all original parts." I want to believe that it's a sign of a good car, but I also wonder if I should be looking for a car that has already had the wiring harness replaced?

Default Just purchased '95 c280

I just purchased mine and the inspection came out fine, except they could not get a read on the Check Engine light. Is there something I can buy that is inexpensive to read this myself, or someplace I can take it to? I live in Portland, OR. I don't have a lot of money to spend and hope this isn't going to be a huge issue. I was able to purchase an extended warranty. Hopefully that will cover any issues that come up. It has 176k miles.
