1988 420 SEL Question
Hello everyone, my name is Dan and I am new here. I currently drive a 95 nissan pathfinder that is on its last leg. Recently, a man that my dad works with told him that he had a 1988 420 SLE for sale, well maintained, with 150,000 miles. A few questions for those of you in the know, if you don't mind. First of all, what would be a fair price for this vehicle (given the limited amount of info I have given)? What kind of gas mileage can I expect? Does anyone have any positive or negative criticism of this specific model/year? We don't know too much about Mercedes and I figured that this would be the place to get some input. Thanks.

RE: 1988 420 SEL Question
Thats a great car though not as powerful as the 560sel it also doesnt have the self-leveling rear suspension that is expensive to repair that said the self leveling rear if taken care of doesnt break.
That said
Does this guy have maintence records? If so has the timing chain been replaced? If not you will want to have that done.
Mpg i would say 17-20. My 560 gets 14-17.
Depending on condition dictates price between 2500-4500 if fair. I want $4500 for my 560sel and those are worth a little more cause they also have heatedand powerfront and rear seats and the self leveling rear.
