SLK 350 drive through water
Hi,
I have an 2005 SLK 350. Yesterday, there was 5-6 inches of water on the road, and I had to drive fast through it. During the drive, I heard a noise from the engine and realized loss ofhpas if I was driving with the parking brake on.
And today, while I observe that the car goesto higher rpms than usual when moving among shifts 1-2-3. When driving around 60 mph or above, there are no problems though, everything is usual.
My question is: Could the engine have got some water or something while I was driving through the water, causing the problems? Or am i just being paranoid? It's still on warranty, but I'm not sure if there is a problem..Any ideas would be appreciated..
Btw, any feedback on the safe water level to drive on would also be appreciated.
Thanks,
john

RE: SLK 350 drive through water
Safe water level is usually just below wheel bearings unlessa purposeful 4wd.
Air intake is the next issue so any water that is forced into the grill can get into the aircleaner.
This is the 1st thing I would check and dry out.
