i just purchased an slk 230 99, im really out of money now, i was going to do my own oil change,
i was wondering if any one could help me,
what type of oil:
what type of oil fileter:
and what not to do:

any branded oil filter (slk230 is paper type)
Mobil one oil or equiv

 

I just purchased a Mobil 1 10 : 30 so you think thats a good one???
oh and do i need a oil sucker, or i could do it the old way!

 

You can do it the old way. Both methods remove same amount of oil on MBs.

Oil should be ok, dont rev engine for a few minutes.

 

I made a short and sweet diy video of the SLK230 oil and oil filter change for 1996-2004 (r170 generation)

Mercedes dealerships refer to an oil change as Service A and charge $200-$250 for it!! You can easily do your own oil and oil filter change on your Mercedes for $35-$40. Then inspect your fluid levels, look at your brakes, check your tire pressure, reset the maintenance counter and voila you saved $200 by doing your own "Service A" maintenance
