Default Sagging Headliner

The headliner on my 1998 SLK230 is sagging to the point that it touches my head. Does anybody have any experience in fixing this problem? Is there a DIY fix, or do I have to get it fixed via my dealer? Is there any hope of a long-term fix?

Thanks for your prompt response. Your 3/20/2015 post was nicely detailed. I should have found it before I posted.

I would add that after doing another headliner. . I used a spray adhesive on the fabric, with several light coats and used a paint brush with the contact cement on the liner board. it's too easy to have the contact cement soak through the liner with a paint brush on the fabric. One could use the spray on both, I just like plenty of adhesive on the board.
