SLK 230 1998 passenger airbag

how can I disable the passenger airbag on my SLK so I can use the child seat that fits all the rest of the family cars. At £480 for a Mercedes child seat with the transponder seems a lot to me. Disable it or the Merc stays in the garage !

i don't think you can turn off because of safety issue

It does the same thing as the baby seat.

I am following this thread to try and figure out how to use my child's car seat by turning off the passenger airbag and I don't understand this answer. What is SDS? And how does part 963 589 16 50 00 turn off the airbag? Can I use it with the car seat? And where can I buy it?

I agree Barbara,some guys speak like we are all Merc experts,if we were we would not be asking questions on here.Please respond in laymans terms please when giving solutions.
