I recently purchased a 2000 SLK 230 with 66K miles. Last week I decided to detail the engine compartment which began with squirt bottle degreaser and pressure washing at the local car wash. Started engine immediately and let run for an hour to get hot emough to dry. Several days later the Check engine light came on. I'm thinking that some connectors have moisture. Will try to unplug everything that I can find and clean with CRC. Hopefully, that will have positive results.

Does anyone know if disconnecting the battery will cause problems with the electronics? Will it reset the check engine light (if the problem has been resolved)?
This SLK is all new to me.

if you have fixed the problem, the cel will shut itself off in about 100 miles or so. the trouble codes will stay in the module until cleared.
