I own a 02 SLK 320.Recently purchased. It now has 52k on it and this week has developed a rough stumbling idle. Not real bad but you can feel its not smooth anymore. No engine codes.I know this is a very open ended question but without getting screwed at the local MB dealer what could be the cause or has anyone experienced this? Thanks

Hi, i've just come on to the net looking for the same answer as you. My 01 SLK320 has just started the same thing yesterday! It got progressively worse on the way home tonight and the engine management light came on. I'm going to take it into a MB specialist garage tomorrow to see if they can shed some light on it. This is not the best start to MB ownership, this is our first benz and we've only had it a month.....I'll post on here and let you know the result!

Well, took it in. He ran the OBD check and said it came up with a page full of error codes. He thought the Mass sensor was at fault so he replaced it with a brand new Bosch unit £180, and it made no difference. He wants me to take it back tomorrow to replace the O2 sensors as apparently they also came up at fault. I'm not quite sure how so many faults can appear when the car was running fine the previous day! Surely an O2 sensor can't have this much of an impact? I asked him if it was the plugs or leads but he said no. The car is virtually undrivable at the moment. Getting it past 30mph is difficult, it's shuddering terribly. Hill starts are impossible. I put some super fuel in, made no difference. This is ahorrible experience, I hope i'm not doing more damage to it by driving it but I don't have any choice as I can't get to work otherwise. I've had 3 Hondas for the last 7 years and not one single problem like this. I'm wondering if buying a mercedes was such a good idea....
