Hi Sleepwalker,
Been following this one.
CPS?
= Engine Management System?
= Central Protection System?
I'm not familiar with all these MB acronyms. Please advise true translation.
I thought the motion sensor was intro at 2000 f/l.
I ask because I am still trying to sort out WHY I have the Interiuor Light / Security problems we have disscussed previously.
I'm confident that changing the PSE will solve matters but its the WHY I remain interested in.

Yes, the same thing happened to me today on the way to work. Engine just shut off. Would not restart. All lights seemed to work, fan, radio, windows all worked. Tried several (6-8) times to restart. The engine would not crank over at all. It was towed to dealer and promptly started. I have a 2000 SLK with 23000 mi. It is now with dealer. I will update you when I get it back to see what they find. bb

Read a lot about relay K40 .
Most chaps have reported symptoms like yours and resoldered all connections on circuit board with sucess.

Well the dealer duplicated the problem. Relpaced the K40 relay. So far so good. bb
