Anyone have info on the gearshift selector module? My 99 230slk wouldn't change from first so I had it towed in and they tell me it's the shifter module. Anyone else had this problem?

 

I had a similar problem. Car wouldn't go into drive.
Took it to the dealer. They diagnosed it as "Shifter internal electrically faulty"
They replaced the shifter mechanism.
Part# 129 260 4598. Parts = $430. Labor = $285 (3 hrs)

Problem resolved.
