Default checking an intercooler on slk230

Does anyone know how to check an intercooler on a 99slk 230? Due to some increased oil consumption ( no smoke, no leaks) an MB man said check the intercooler. I know where it is. But that's it. Anyone???

usually the reason to check them is because they get oil in them and then the oil goes up into the airmass sensor than you cant drive the car...it will drive but only go very slowly. if they do have oil in them you must remove the intercooler and blow out the oil that is in there and clean out the airmas sensor and replace the oil seperator on the engine and then the problem should be fixed. whats the reason for checking the intercooler?

As stated in the original post, some increased oil usage has me wondering where its going. No visible smoke, no leaks. I have checked the maf,the oil sep, the pcv valve and intake port, and all hoses. They all look ok. I had some oil in the plug wells but that was from faulty o ring/sealsnew o rings and silicone seemed to help that. So, still scouting, but I have never tackled an intercooler. Doesit just disconnect fom the attached hoses and then come out or is there more involved in removing it?

I would change engine oil for Mobil 1 if you havnt done so already. Some other brands have been reported to get ring blowby .
