a/c system problem Help!
The dealer quoted for new compressor. I just tested the compressor by turning it on manually with a wire from battery and it kick on and cools. The Idiots at the dealer just want $$$ and don’t care about fixing the problem.
My problem is that the compressor will not kick in. The Freon was 1.6lb and I added more for recommended 1.90lb. The compressor works when connected to the battery. Is there some kind of module that controls a/c? Anyone had the same problem? I just replaced combination control module because it went bad. Please help guys.

RE: a/c system problem Help!
I currently drive a volkswagen jetta, but i may have some advice for you anyway. I just replaced the ac compressor in my car and need to put new freon in it. The compressor will currently not turn on due to the low pressure of the ac system. There is a switch that prevents the compressor from turning on when there is a lack of pressure in the system. It simply prevents the clutch from enguaging. To put freon in the system, you acutally have to bypass this switch. I saw a pic, with the information of how to do this in the very large bentley manual for my car.
Anyway, my advice, would by to try bypassing this switch, should be fairly simple since it is made to be done. Mine is easy to access and has four pins on it. To bypass the safety and turn on the compressor, you have to connect two of those four pins. My advice, try that. If by bypassing the safety turns on your compressor I recommend replacing that sensor. Hope that helps.

fixed the problem. Had to take it to a specialist. The main control module was bad, the one with the switches in the center console. It was $600 or so for parts + labor. Just to think the stupid dealer was going to charge me $1200 for new compressor and it was not the problem.
