Default 2001 SLK230 Transmission is in Emergency / Limp mode

2001 SLK230
  • 722.6 (5 speed) transmission.
  • ETC (EGS) N1 5/3; EGS52
    • A0305452032 EGS52 5WP2 0000AR
Symptom: Transmission is in Emergency / Limp mode. (R and D work. Shifting to D is locked in 2nd gear)
Fault codes:
  • P2026-016 CAN message from control module N1 5/3 (ETC [EGS] control unit) CAN signal interruption [P0600]
  • B1039 Fault in CAN communication with control unit Transmission control.
Items checked / verified / replaced.
  • Purchased transmission dipstick and checked fluid level = Good / Full.
  • Checked Mercedes Transmission 13-Pin Connector Adapter Plug + O-rings.= Good / no leaks. Replaced anyway with NEW.
  • Did complete transmission flush (9 qts) Dropped / cleaned pan, changed filter. Added back the same amount removed from pan. Placed cooler return line into container and removed / added 1qt at a time. Flushed 9qts total.
  • Brake pedal switch checked = Good. Replaced with NEW anyway.
  • Checked Conductor plate / valve body from ETC connector = Good.
  • Scanner reads all shift positions (P/D/R) and sensors as good. (wheel speed sensor = good)
  • CAN Bus wires @ ETC / EGS measures 60 Ohms = Good.
  • Both 12V power and Gnd are good to ETC / EGS
One Item suspect so far = @ ETC / EGS computer pin #1 = “Diagnostic port” for readout and Diagnostic purposes. Should be 12V when ignition ON. Actually I am NOT getting any voltage on Pin 1. Both when ignition ON and or Started and running = 0 VDC!!! (Back pined with wire connector plugged IN with Meter referencing good frame ground.)
This makes me suspect my ETC / EGS is bad.
Found used ETC / EGS on flee bay matching P/N’s. States it is from a E class located in Kaunas, Lithuania.
Ebay P/N: A0305452032 EGS52 5WP2 0000AR 01W15 Q03

My ETC / EGS: A0305452032 EGS52 5WP2 0000AR 01W18 Q03
Please let me know If you think my ETC / EGS is bad?

Also will the Ebay item work without reprogramming?
Thanks,
