Default Mercedes GL450 compared to 2007 GMC Acadia

Thought this maybe of interest to other members? I really want to buy a 2007 Mercedes GL450 but have a hard time justifing the extra cost of a Mercedes. When I compare the GL450 to a 2007 GMC Acadia, it looks to me that I am taking a step down in comfort!!! Note: The 2008 Buick Enclave even looks better, but is not avaliable until April! We have test drove both vehicles and the things we don't like about the mercedes is the 2nd and 3rd row seating. The 2nd row seats in the mercedes are not as comfortable as the GMC Acadia. When the kids seat in the 3rd row seat it appears that they are more issolated and seat down in a hole. They also can not vie the TV in the Mercedes. The interior layout seems to be better thought out on the GMC? It has almost all the features that we are looking for except the mercedes image.

Actually, I think that second-row comfort is one of the few weaknesses of the Acadia. That and the interior materials don't compare with those in a Mercedes.

I'll have initial reliability info on the Acadia in May.

I wouldn't want to buy into a name brand of failing models anda corrupt company(GMC). While the Acadia is a nice suv, I would go with the GL simply because of the optional diesel, interior components, design, engineering, status and overall appreciation of the brand.

ok you drove both vehicles, you still believe that the gmc is better than the gl. well actually i cant even compare the gl to the gmc even the yukon, i think the gl has more room compared to those two, even the back seats, i think gl is the only suv that has 3rd that is liveable even for adults, even on long drives., i used to have gmc yukon xl, yes its big but not in packaging, 2nd row cramped doesnt even recline, 3rd row yes 3 kids , yes not in a hole but sitting on top of the bump, no leg room. what else the looks? its the taste. pricing yes cheaper but remember your depreciation, the very 1st day of the brand. gas consumption, in reality for me they are the same! dont be fooled by the sticker. i know its way too much but you get what you paid for. and remember buy a car that you will love down the road, and not dislike 2 or 3 years after.
