Default 01 SLK230 Stuck in park need help!!!

My car is stuck in park, and the only way to get it out of park is to manually do it. I want to fix the problem myself. How do I fix this issue??

Hi,

I am not really sure. But, I think you need to have the key in the run position, and step on the brake pedal to move the shift lever. You may find such information in the owner's manual.

you might have a bad brake switch. the car isnt seeing you depressing the brake pedal so its not allowing you to shift out of park...or you got fluid into the shifter

I too am having this problem 01 slk230. I noticed the button for keeping someone from towing it won't press down. I'm wondering if it is locked into place. I have got it out of park several times and I just play with the plastic right there around the stick and it finally
will release. Not always though. I need some help with this.

I had an Acura that if the wheel was turned tight it would not shift out of park.So I would turn the steering wheel in the direction of no resistance and turn key and away we go,never did fix it because it only did it when I turned into a tight spot.
