01 SLK 320, cracked brake hose to intake.

RE: 01 SLK 320, cracked brake hose to intake.
Yeah, I got all the old connector out, but it turns out the connector is not sold separately, so I have to buy the hose for $66. If it comes in and there is no connector with it, I have temporarily rigged a connector and put it back together. One thing I did notice is that it idled no better than it did before I changed the MAF (thats how I broke the intake hose in the first place). Does it take a while for the car to adjust to the new MAF? I also noticed that the breather hose to the MAf is split up the side (dry rotted) and wonder if that can cause a rough idle. I replaced the MAF because of the check engine light, and got PO173 and PO170codes.

P0170/3 is the signature of a MAF fault.
MAF does not usually manifest itself as poor idle.
Not sure to which tube you refer BUT if there is an induction leak this will contribute towards poor idle.
Did you cancel the fault codes. Do you still have the codes?
Make good the perished tube.
NB. Therewas no need to move the whole MAF just the sensor which is fixed with 2 special security Torx screws. Bits available from most good car shops at a few dollars.
