Default Where to find ???

I posted this on the amg forum also, but I think they will be the same as the AMG part is not part of the problem.

I am told that the ESP MODULE on my wifes 06 sl55 is bad....

I have a source for the part but he needs the part number to match it

OK am I looking for something under the hood or in the trunk.

Some one jump in and tell me.

THANKS, STEVE

should be behind the passenger side headlight on the ABS brake unit. it has a bunch of hydraulic lines going to it. The esp control unit is screwed onto that. I just replaced one this week on a S63 AMG 2008. The part numbers on the front of it you should be able to see it.

That esp module will need to be programmed. It will not work without it.

Do they lose programming if unplugged? would a used one need re-programming?

Unplugging is ok. I dont think a used one will work. I would imagine if its the same chassis and same traction control system it mightl work, but I honestly dont know. When you install a new one it goes through a series of tests called initial startup. It checks and calibrates the abs valves..
