What's this cap on the SL600 engine?
Just got a 96 SL600. There's a small cover at the center front of the top of the engine, with a MB symbol on it. Under it is a twist-off cap that looks like an oil fill cap. What is this for?
Looking down into it, it seems "empty". Meanwhile, the car runs rather hot even at highway speeds, and all fans running (AC on). Certainly this isn't a coolant fill point --in addition tothe overflow container??
BTW, is there a site where I can get some basic technical info until my manuals arrive?
Thanks.

Here's a link to download any owners manual.
Thanks to 'biggy'.
Go to Edge Translation
On the left hand side there is a 'Clients Log-In'.
Username: edge122 all lowercase.
Password: ed6762 all lowercase.
Then click on the 'Open your ftp page' Arrow.
Click OK at 'This will open your ftp page in a seperate window.'
Then 'Copy' the PDF of choice to your desktop or folder of choice.
The download will be complete after several minutes.[/align]

Thanks to all. In regards to manuals, are there any other download sites besdies the owner's manuals (which are very good!)? Searched the website, but some of the links are no longer valid.
