Default Trunk Gas Spring

Trunk would not stay open probably because gas spring seals are worn and have lost their charge. Purchased replacement gas springs mfg by Febi who make replacements for Stabilus. Springs did not come with any infor re removal and replacement. Arrangement seems simple enough, spring ends have a socket which mate with a ball on the trunk mechanism. The spring is held in place with a metal band or clip that clamps the ball end. To remove the spring it appears you simply pry up the clip to release the ball end from the spring socket. However, tried several times but spring would not release. What am I doing wrong?
Searched for installation info on the net but could not find sny. If anyone has any info, I would appreciate your response.

Thanks

Is there too much tension on the pin? I know in a lot of hatchback cars, you have to pull the strut a bit so you can release it.

use a screwdriver and pry underneath the clips, you dont need to remove them. and the strut will pop off. you need to pull them off.
