Default TDC and camshaft TIMING MARKS oFF

I need some advice. I just finished replacing the valve chain guide on the drivers side. I am ready to change the otherside when i realized my timing marks are off on both sides by about 8mm each counterclockwise and my harmonic balancers that read 0/0 TDC when i started now reads 25 which happens to be the factory timimg mark. (QUESTION) did i mess up here somewhere and what should i do before moving on to my last guide. FYI i had removed the power steering, distributor and alternator after setting my TDC. could the little i moved the camshaft sprocket when removing it result in the TDC marking being off so drastically? How do i rectify this issue. Thank you in Advance an obvious newbie. but who's asking? THX

did you remove the sprocket, tensioner or just the rail?

be careful when putting back the tensioner!

Sleepwalker thanks for the reply. I have replaced the upper and lower guide on the rightside one of which had broken in half but did not fall into the engine. and have now removed the sprocket on the left side and replace only the upper guide. I have not removed the tensioner but did remove the sprocket. I'm hoping that i can put the sprocket back on the cam without removing the tensioner. I did mark my chains and sprockets before removing them. somewhere after removing my forward gear (alt, distri, pwr str) my cam marks are off by 8mm and my crankshaft is at 25 BTDC. which happens to be the marking MB manufact made on the harmonic balancer. QUESTION: since i started this with CAM marking aliagned and 0/0 on balancer, can i rotate crank shaft the original position 0/0 when started thus realiagning cam markings and then reinstall my distributor in it's original marked position with rotor in #1 position?.? important info #107.044.12.060551

Default RE: TDC at 0/0 camshaft TIMING MARKS close to spot on

Sleepwalker, So i've put back on my passanger side sprocket. alianging the marks i had made on the chain and sprocket. As i had mention before my cam marking where off and crankshaft hub was at 25 ??BTDC. so now i have manuelly rotated the crank to aliagn the cam marks to where i had originally started. leftside (passanger) is only a fraction of a mm off and the rightside is dead on. the crankshaft hub is perfect 0/0 TDC. I have rotated this a few times to see how it would align best. Any suggestions. I can forwqrd you a few pics if helpful. thx again. signed alittle in over my head. but determined to succeed.
