starts but dies a 5-8 seconds later
Help Please
trying to get a 380sl running that has been sitting for years. removed and cleaned fuel tank. replaced fuel pump and filter.
the car will now start but will only run a few seconds before it dies.
any suggestions? I'm questioning the fuel pressure dampner. just before or when the car dies I hear a noise which sounds like it is coming from the fuel pump. I think the pump might be going dry and the noise is from the fuel pump impellers.

How are the vacuum hoses, wiring, distributor cap and rotor? line from tank to pump? pump is installed correctly? sometimes new parts are bad. try a fuel system cleaner? the fuel system may have alcohol related issues. I like my corn in flakes, mashed potatos and gravy and cows, not my gas. it sure messes up atv's, especially if it sets too long.
