SL500 Convertible latch leaking oil
Today I thought I had water dripping on my leg. When I looked more closely I could see hydraulic oil dripping out from the corner of where the sun visor mounts to the windshield brace. I took the covers off and everything looks brand new. I can see oil in the area under the hydraulic piston but don't know where it's coming from. Can anyone tell me if this is a usual thing? Or what to replace first? Thanks.

OK. The car spent its first 11 years in South Florida and now here in Central NJ. I put the top down everytime I drive it so I guess its in shock. Are there any write ups about rebuilding it? Maybe I'll just buy a new one if its not too expensive. Thanks for the help. I LOVE this car!

go to Top Hydraulics | Rebuilt Convertible Top Hydraulic Cylinders - Top Hydraulics, Inc for rebuild. 541 902 3214. make sure leak is coming from the piston and not a line seal.
