I was hoping someone out there can help me out. I have a 1994 SL600 with 64000 miles. Today I was driving on the interstate without warning the tach quit working, the car bucked a little and then becamevery sluggish. The ASR light and the check engine light came on andfortunatelyI was able to make it back home. I'm thinking it is probably a wiring harness problem , but, not really sure. Anyone have any ideas on a fix??? Thanks

Thanks, I'm trying to check the codes. I just wasn't sure if it was all related to the tachometer failure or if there was a wiring harness issue

 

THE ONLY WAY YOU LL BE ABLE TO TELL IS TO PLUG IT ON DIAG TOOL, POSSIBLE CAUSE THROTTLE ACTUATOR OR SPEED SENSOR,I DONT THINK YOU HAVE ANY WIRING HARNESS FALUT.

 

Thanks for the info, I tried to pull the fault codes the old fashioned way with three wiresand a lightbut it didn't seem to work too well. I'm going to get a scanner and try again.

 

I suggest checking the fuses that plug-in to the top of the Base module (picture).

Thanks for the response and the tip. I cleaned all of the regular fuses, didn't know about these. The car hasn't been driven much over the past few years. I'll let you know, thanks again, George
