Service Manual for R129, not CD, not DVD?
I cannot find a Service Manual for my 1998 SL500 R129 in PRINT. I have two different CD/DVD manuals but I hate them. I thought I would buy the DVD and then just print it off, but this is not what I wanted. I want a PRINTED SERVICE MANUAL. I have looked at Haynes, etc., but have found nothing. Does anyone know of a manual that I can purchase and where I can get it?

These people may have it: http://www.tmcpubl.com/mercedes.html. It would consist of many books and probably cost well over $1000.
You didn't mention which DVD you have. But if it's the R129 Tech DVD from M-B, I can't imagine being unsatisfied with it.

SL500 Manual
I bought the STAR Classic CD for my 1998 SL500. It was expensive and it was junk.
I later bought a parts list, with drawings, on eBay. Not too bad but no service information and no wiring diagrams. I would pay something for a factory manual but not $100. I got one for the SL500 and one for the ML320.
I have owned 4 Corvettes, a Buick Regal, a Lincoln Continental, etc., and the manuals for them were all superb. MB seems to make over-complicated cars and provide minimal, and often conflicting, information.

alldata.com will give wiring diagrams, plus help in 75% of everything else that can go wrong. you can print as much as you want. I printed off the all the sections of the diagram, then tape them together. makes it a lot easier to read
