I just purchased a 2003 sl sport with 37000 miles. Its still under warranty and I was planning to take it in and have this fixed. Does anyone know if this is a common problem? Will this be something I will have to live with as the car becomes older? Can I expect the dealer to solve this?

 

Roof rattles are very common for the R230. Mercedes has issued numerous bulletins to their dealers instructing them how to correct the rattles. But from my own experience and reading of this problem on other forums, it seems they are generally able to improve matters but not cure the problem entirely.
