hello everyone, i just wanted to ask anyone that knows what might be thre problem with two lights that are turning on in my 1997 sl600. the major one is the roll over bar light, the button that makes it go up and down has both lights turned on and the switch for the top stays lit with a red light, so of course i cant put the top down, any ideas?? also the dampner light turns on randomly somtimes but other times it dosent turn on, what does it mean when it does turn on?? thats about it, if you can lead me through the process of fixing those two problems i would gratly appreaciate it especially since i dont have the owners manual or anything of the like, thank you ahead of time for the help

 

most probably the rollbar was deployed. reset it (take it down).

check the vehicle height, was it normal?

 

how do i reset the rollbar?? do i need a certain scanner or can i just jump certain terminals to clear that light? and what is the normal ride height?? do i check from the top of the wheel well??

 

I think a code is set in the top controller that is disabling operation. If I am correct, then your only course of action is to take the car to a well-equiped shop and have them clear the code. If you do, please make a point of asking them what codes they found and report them back to this thread.

 

was the rollbar in up position and you cannot take it down?
try to retract the rollover bar by pressing the switch to up positon for at least 5 seconds till you hear it click. then take it down.

there is a rear axle sensor on which if the rear axle are extended, it will deploy the rollbar. maybe you got problem down there which also affects the ADS system?

 

the rollbar is in the up position and the roll bar switch has both lights on, same with the switch for the top, what is ADS? is there any possible way i can take the top down manually? i already found the two bolts that lock the top in place. and yes i will post the codes on this thread if they give them to me, hopefully they will.
