Replacement key fob for '96 sl

Dealer wants $225 for new key fob. Says cant buy one on ebay because it cant be programmed to match car, is this bs and I have included a link on how to reprogram a MB key fob. What do you think

sorry, I should have stated I have a '96 SL, doesn't have electronic key, key fob used to unlock doors and lock doors. Thanks
