Im in MTT(machine tool technology) in my school and I thought a kool thing to make would be a new shifter ****. Only problem is that I dk how to get that dang thing off. I tried to just unscrew it but it dident budge. Can someone tell me how to remove it. O yeah the car is a 500 SL if that matters.

 

there is a plastic peice at the bottom of the shift ****, it should twist, when it stops pull up hard un the ****

there is no plastic piece on the bottom of my shifter ****, its just the shifternob right onto the shaft that goes down into the center console. When I look down to where the shifter mounts I can see a nut that goes around the shaft. Possibly I just need to lossen that up.
