Questions re: 1990 300 SL
I am looking at buying a 1990 300 SL< what are some things to check out. Also what is the main diff between the 300 and 500 sl besides the engines. Is the 300 a good car as far as maintenance. The car I;m looking at has 85000 miles. Thanks Jim
to start with, I love mine. However, unless you have deep pockets, they can get expensive. In the seven years I've had the car I've put 40k into her not counting the original cost. I think it's worth it.? about 15k of the expenses were fixing things twice due to poor service. A good service tech is worth his weight in your gold. If you don't have deep pockets, make her a hobby. learn to work on it. a 97 sl320 is the best of the sixes. again, I LOVE the little beauty.
Ahoy, Jim,
Just today, I bought a '98 SL500 from TRAX Auto Wholesale in San Mateo, CA ph 650 212 2900. First meeting, but looked like a good outfit.
I swapped my '90 MBZ 300SL. It had a few 'issues', but they had a red '92 300SL beauty, and when they finish with mine, It ought to be prime. Charcoal color --- LOTS easier to live with than a black one.
Boss is Manny -- Nice guy.
Enjoy /s/ Bob
