Passenger seat does not move - HELP
I did a search and had no joy as of yet. Here is my problem and the fixes I have tried.
Car - 1995 SL 500
1. Passnger seat does not move in any direction at all.
2. I removed the lower seat cushion and the back cushion
3. Lifted the cover off the PCB labeld "5" (the part that sits directly under the bottom cushion
4. With the cover off the PCB I saw one relay (switch) move when I engaged the seat bottom switch to move forward.
5. I did the same process of removal to the drivers side and saw the sequence of relays (switches) to make the seat move in all directions.
6. I used those sequences manually (by opening and closing the switches with my fingers) and the seat began to move. I could make it move in all directions.
7. I thought that since the seat could be triggered manually by my fingers I thought the switch may be bad. So I ordered a new switch and the seats do the same thing. It is not the switch.
8. I can still move them manually with the new switch installed.
9. All the fuses are good
10. Is there a left and right relay I can switch? All other functions that operate off the relay work fine
11. Is this a bad PCB
12. Is this a common problem
13. I am at a loss here- I am leaning to a bad PCB I hope not though.
Any help is greatly appreciated
Mike

RE: Passenger seat does not move - HELP
I had the same problem with my '94 SL. I thought it may have been the relay as well, but I found out that the convertible top was leaking a bit and the seat well on the passenger side was wet, and the wires then got wet as well. It took a day to dry out, and the seat worked again, and has not given me any trouble in over a year. Thsi may not be your cause, but I just wanted to give you the additional info. Try moving the wire housing to see if you have a bad connection somewhere as well. Good Luck
