Default New 03 SL500 Owner Questions

Hello all,

I just bought an 03 SL500 with 61k on it, the car didn't have an owners manual with it so I am a bit confused.

Can anyone tell me two things, first how do I adjust the review mirror, I know better than to grab it because my did that in our old 95 Sl500, that was an 1100 dollar lesson learned.

Secondly, there is a malfunction warning appearing on the dash, how can I pull more information about this warning and reset it? I am hoping there is a way to atleast see what the problem is without a visit to the dealer.

Other than those to items I am very impressed with this car, the power compared to the 95 is incredible and I love the ability to manually shift the tranny.

Thanks in advance for your assistance, happy motoring.

are you talking about the right mirror when backing up?if so put the car in reverse adjust the mirror to show you the curb then press memory then 1 on the door wuith in 3 secondsas far as the rear view i just move it with my hand put it to memmory ,yes you can see and clear the messages with the paddles.Unless you have the phone hooked up to the car you will see a malfunction ,that is from the phone pay no attention to that good luck

Hi, thank you for the response. I did find the owners manuals so I feel better now. It is funny the owners manual states to manually adjust the inside mirror (guess enough people broke the electric ones in previous model years) lol.

I am glad to hear about the phone and the SOS, I was worried there was a problem. So would it be safe to assume there was a phone kit in the car and the owner removed it? If so is there a way to disable that functionality to stop the Malfunction inidication?

Thanks again.

Dealer can quickly and easily disable the SOS malfuntion thus eliminating this irritation of showing a constant 1 malfunction.
