Need tires for my 2000
Just purchased a 2000 SL500 and the tires are bald. Looks like thefactory tires which are Continental Sport Contact 2 - P245/45ZR17 (95w) These tires were discontinued.
I would like some suggestions. I don't want to pay a million bucks for them but want good quality!!
Thanks!!

Welcome to the Forum betmerick,
You picked a good topic to start! In my opinion, the choice of tires gets 'personal' real quick...driving conditions, i.e. all season vs. 'summer' tires, driving style, i.e., agressive/conservative, comfort vs. handling, and price/value, i.e., longevity, quietness/road noise, yadda, yadda, yadda.
All this said, when I went shopping for the tires I eventually bought, Bridgestone Potenzas, simply because they met the criteria I had established for what I wanted to spend. To establish a baseline for comparison, I used TireRack to see what people were buying for these cars, the comparison charts, user reviews and prices. I ended up using a local tire seller to buy and install them, but the 'homework' started here.

You may also want to check with your local MB dealer as the one near me had these or similar Continentals and the prices were reasonable as I recall.
Good Luck in your search-
Bob

RE: Need tires for my 2000
Hey Rick,
I got mine at Callaghan Tires in Bradenton. BTW, the final stroke for me wasa promotion Bridgestone was running at the time for a $100 rebate on a 4 tire purchase for their high end tires. Competing with Michelin Pilots, I suspect. Callaghans offers lifetime free rotation and balance services as well. I'm sure local to you suppliers do the same thing. Also BTW, I saw your Continentals at TireRack if they're what you want. Doa search on the Continental Brand and they'll pop up...pricey little buggers.
