I just installed an MP40 Mercedes Player MP40 - Mercedes Player in my 2000 S500 back in August 2011. Other than it took a month to get it from Germany and there is no English documentation, I am very pleased. It works great. I have 2 8gb SD cards (actually they are micro SD cards in a full size SD card adapter) in slots 1 & 2 (aka CD1 & CD2), have a 4gb CF1 card in slot 3 (aka CD3) and an 8gb micro SD card in a CF2 adapter in slot 4 (aka CD4). I currently have 1431 tracks with a play time of over 11 days available. Some are music, some audio books, some learning tapes, etc. What really blew my mind was the sound system plays the mp3's on the MP40 with noticeably better quality than I ever got from the CD changer.

Default Additional info on MP40

I just reread your post and wanted to clarify one thing. Although the MP40 is called "Mercedes MP40" it is NOT made by or endorsed by Mercedes. It is from an independent company in Germany and as near as I can tell the only place to get it is direct from them.

Prior to my purchase I went to my local Mercedes dealer parts department and they did some research and confirmed it is not a Mercedes-Benz product and is not available through Mercedes-Benz.

Unfortunately I do not know anything about your vehicle so I cannot help with the removal. On my S500 it was truly plug and play, plug in the power, plug in the D2B and voila, it works.
