One thing to check - the OVP relay. This is a small aluminum cube that has a red cover and one (or two) fuses in the top of it. On your car, this is under the cover on the passenger's side.

You can see a picture of a new one here:
"http://www.buymbparts.biz/ShopByVehicle.epc?q=1990-Mercedes-500sl-Body--Electrical&yearid=1990%40%401990&makeid=63%40%40ME RCEDES%40%40X&modelid=6297%3AED|10000067%3AMBC|154 4%40%40500SL&catid=241959%40%40Body+Electrical&sub catid=242003@@Overload+Relay&mode=PD"

Check the fuses on top with an ohm meter if out of it or a vom if installed and powered on.

Especially if you jumped the car or charged the battery with the battery connected to the car.

Thank you Fred. I've forwarded the information to my father so we can check this weekend, once all the ice melts...

Hope we make some progress on this car. Appreciate all the help everyone.

Hey Fred,

Our mechanic told us that the EZL controls power and the fuel lines.

Is that true? If so, is it possible the fuel pump has gone bad as a result of the delay.

Basically, is it possible that since the car has been on the shelf for 7 months that other issues are now preventing the car from working, regardless of whether we purchase a working EZL?

The process continues...

We found another EZL Module at Nationwide Auto Recycling. Has anyone heard good or bad regarding this company?

Also, we're going to have a party when we fix this. The entire forum is invited.

I can not answer with 100% accuracy that the EZL does not somehow affect fuel pump electronics control circuity. Everything I've read indicates to me that it does not. I see dual circuits, but not much shared. But I could be wrong.

I'll look at my Bosch injection book Wed or Thu and get back to you.

Have you tried taking the air intake system of and spraying ether into the intake manifold?
This will tel you right away - if it seems to run, then you have no fuel; if it does not seem to run with ether being sprayed in, then it is a pretty good guess you have no spark.

Some reading material: http://www.humanspeakers.com/audi/tuning-cise.htm#a (not benz, but goes over CIS-E fuel injection basics)

EDIT - found this on an earlier CIS-E system that may provide some guidance http://www.importedcarparts.com/arts...N_SYSTEMS.HTML

2nd edit - Here's a link I found to an online service manual for the 119 engine found in 124 models. I suspect a lot of the components and connections are identical : http://w124-zone.com/downloads/MB%20.../119index.html

and the 3rd edit - an article all about your ezl : http://www.k6jrf.com/MB_DI.html

Thank you sir. I'm going to print your latest advice and show it to my dad.

We'll walk through it together.

We're an odd couple. (He stinks at computers, I stink at cars...I have to relay his info back and forth).

Thanks for your continued efforts and advice. It's very appreciated.

Unfortunately not. We're still looking for a working (used) Ignition Module.

Let me know if you have any advice...

I think my dad dreams about EZL's now.

He did get the diagnostic from Mercedes and they did conclude it's almost certainly the EZL though. Just a matter of finding a couple now.
