I just bought a 1999 SL500 and thinking about buying extended warranty on it. Mercedes of Chandler quote me $2,900 for 5yrs/100K. I don't know what are available out there that are good. Please help....

 

MAKE SURE THE POLICY COVERS SEALS AND GASKETS. ALSO SOME ONLY LIMIT THEMSELVES TO 5000.00 TOTAL PAYOUT FOR THE LIFE OF THE CONTRACT...WHICH IS A RIPOFF...NOTHING EMMISION WISE WILL BE COVERED ALSO. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE WORTH THE MONEY..PUT IT IN A MUTUAL FUND

 

I had my cat converter go out recently and the car is six months out of warranty. Mercedes was kind enough to cover the repair which would have been $2500. It's out of the 4/50k but I argued it as an emmission issue which should be covered for seven or ten years. They paid the claim and I never saw the cost.

I may get the warranty at year five. Most of these cars are really good up to year five. However, sometimes the warranties are less if you get the aftermarket warranty as the original MB warranty expires.
